TalkMaxx is committed to protecting your privacy, especially for younger users.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the following information when you create an account and use TalkMaxx:

• Name and age
• Phone number (used for login only)
• Parent or guardian email (optional, for progress reports)
• Session transcripts (text only — your voice is processed in real-time and not stored)
• Usage data such as session duration and streak count

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to provide and improve the TalkMaxx service. Conversation transcripts are used to identify topics you've discussed, vocabulary you've learned, and areas where you need more practice — so future conversations can build on what you've already covered, and so we can track your learning progress over time. We also use your data to personalize conversations and send optional parent reports. We do not sell your data to third parties.

4. Voice Data

TalkMaxx uses real-time voice processing to enable conversation. Your voice is sent to a third-party AI voice processing provider and is not stored by TalkMaxx. For tutors with an animated avatar (Lauren, Daniel, Jake, Rachel, Gabby, Amy, Marcus, and Kenji), the tutor's own spoken response — never your voice — is separately sent to a third-party avatar animation provider to generate the talking avatar video. Please refer to our service providers' privacy policies for details on how they handle this data.

5. Children's Privacy

We take the privacy of younger users seriously. We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide the service. Parents or guardians may contact us at any time to request deletion of their child's data.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.

7. Third-Party Services

TalkMaxx uses third-party services to operate: Google's Gemini API (real-time voice conversation), Spatius (animated tutor avatars), Supabase (account and data storage), Stripe (payment processing), and Resend (sending parent report emails). Each provider has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data.
